Before working with the blocks ensure as a minimum installation staff have read this article. Installation staff should also conduct a job-specific Job Safety Assessment, complete a Safe Work Method Statement (an example SWMS has been attached to this manual), and consult with other PCBU’s on-site to ensure all hazards are identified before commencing. Equipment should be checked for compliance and necessary certification before lifting blocks.
In reviewing the wall designs, consider:
• Health and safety implications of the design on the working environment
• Internal and external measurements, check against the working space available
• Operational practicalities regarding available machinery and workspace
• Reinforcing requirements
• Block sealing requirements
• Access issues
